Biography
In the mid 1980's Esteban Bojorquez moved into an abandoned chicken coop. He then began to collect and assemble the discarded refuse of a throwaway society. over a seven year span the spontaneous and unsponsored, surreal and illegal folk art happening grew to cover an acre of land. It became known simple as "The Shack".
Having acquired a broad knowledge of materials and craft, the art of Esteban Bojorquez stands varied and unique. Deeply rooted in the origins of counter culture, the high priests of jazz, blues and country, motorcycle-hot-rodding madness, carnies and soul surfing are his inspiration. He continues to explore medium and technique, occasionally working a salvaged remnant of The Shack into a current assemblage.
Bojorquez, a seventh generation Californian, now lives in Santa Fe,
New Mexico.
